Support the Scholarship

I graduated from Whitworth University with honors Cum Laude in May of 2018 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Biology on the pre-medical track. In college, I was involved in various community service projects, mentorship positions, and of course intramural soccer. My time in college was highly impactful and allowed me to foster relationships with friends and professors who have become family in nature. It is so true when they say it takes a village to raise a child. The community I fostered at Whitworth has continued to remain a strong support system for me as I journey onward to life outside of college. At this point in time, I am working as a medical scribe in Spokane, WA. I recently submitted my medical school applications and have begun to receive secondary applications from various schools. I plan to attend medical school fall of 2020 and pursue a specialty in family medicine. While in Spokane I am spending my time rock climbing, playing soccer for the city league, and rekindling my love for reading.  I would encourage anyone to seek new passions during gap years of college. The summer after I graduated, I worked as a barista as I prepared for the MCAT. Ultimately, I am so grateful for the Al Forthan Scholarship that enable me to attend Whitworth University.

Academics and professors teach on a variety of topics ranging from racial reconciliation to the impact of the opiate epidemic and solution-focused efforts in our community.  Check out our events and trainings.

Recycle your cans and bottles then donate them to us: If you collect and recycle your aluminum cans, plastic bottles, and glass bottles, you can donate them to us. Donate your Car or Boat: The Vehicle Donation Program receives donated vehicles: cars, motorcycles, trucks, boats, motor homes, travel trailers, and aircraft to sell on our virtual lot or at auction. Proceeds from the sale support the Al Forthan Scholarship.

Visit our vehicle donation form and specify that you want the proceeds to go to the Al Forthan Scholarship.

Agency Partnership for Trainings: Have your agency partner with us in co-presenting an Al Forthan training to raise funds for the scholarship. What we would ask of your agency is to commit to sending several of your staff to the training and assist us in advertising the training with your partner agencies and contacts. It is a great way for your agency to learn current and useful information while also helping to raise money for the Scholarship. If you are interested in partnering with us, contact Greg Stone at gstone@voaor.org
