The purpose of this training is to focus on how systems impact the perceptions of African, African American and black identified populations in behavioral healthcare. The training will cover: • A historical view of addictions from an African American perspective. • Historical data on addictions treatment for African Americans in Oregon. • A look at some problems and barriers African Americans face in dealing with systems and service provision in Oregon. • A look at cultural responsive solutions that can produce better prevention, engagement, treatment and outcomes for African Americans receiving services in Oregon. |
