Discovery;  How Did I Get Here?: A Psycho-educational and Motivational Enhancement Group to help the Gambler understand, accept and begin a recovery program.  Each week’s topic will cover areas of interest, What is Gambling? Chance Probability and Odds;The Similarities & Differences Between Gambling & Other Substance & Behavior Disorders; Action Cycle, Bio-Psycho – Social – Spiritual / Integral Dimensions; Triggers, Identifying, Managing and Coping; Thinking Errors, Independent Events & Confirmation Biases;  Financial Strategy Concerns; Stage of Change & Recovery;  Motivations,Pros & Cons; Values & Society, the profile of a gambler; Grounding Skills in Recovery.

 

Latino GA: In this group Spanish speaking PGS clients will discuss the issues related to the Discovery group including:  What is Gambling? Chance  Probability and Odds The Similarities & Differences Between Gambling & Other Substance & Behavior Disorders; Action Cycle, Bio-Psycho – Social – Spiritual / Integral Dimensions; Triggers, Identifying, Managing and Coping; Thinking Errors, Independent Events & Confirmation Biases;  Financial Strategy Concerns; Stage of Change & Recovery;  Motivations, Pros & Cons; Values & Society, the profile of a gambler; Grounding Skills in Recovery.  In addition the group will cover the cultural components of acculturation, assimilation, and how they relate to addiction. 

 

Life’s Challenges: A group using an extended check-in process to determine member’s current needs. This is not a curriculum based group. Group members participate with an extended check-in process and identify their successes and challenges from the past week. A topic is synthesized from the members check-in. The group uses that topic to discuss their personal challenges and successes facing their recovery. The group members will help other members with appropriate feedback. The goal of the group is for members to learn, practice and develop some healthy behaviors to help them traverse the challenges of daily life in recovery.

 

Recovery – How Can I Change the Old Pattern of Thinking, Feeling, & Behaving?:  A group to help the problem gambler in any stage of recovery. Find Support, techniques and behaviors to promote wellness. The topics will cover; Self-care and Recovery; HALTS; Feelings & Gambling;  Communication/assertiveness; Relationships; Making amends / Forgiveness; Relapse; Mindfulness; Introduction to GA & VPGR
