1) Describe the impact of substance use on family systems.
2) Identify familial influences on addiction and recovery.
3) Discuss treatment options that heal the whole family symptoms/behaviors.
Presented by
Dr. Chelsey Torgerson is a therapist, educator, clinical supervisor, and researcher with a passion for training the next generation of family therapists to be addiction-informed, trauma-centered, and culturally responsive practitioners. She is a Clinical Assistant Professor and the Clinical Coordinator of the Marriage, Couple and Family Therapy Program at Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Oregon. Dr. Torgerson has taught a wide variety of MCFT courses including MFT theory, diagnosing, developing cultural competencies, substance use in family systems, contemporary issues in MFT, self-of-the-therapist, and internship. She holds the AAMFT Approved Supervisor designation and is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Associate and a Certified Addictions Counselor (CADC III) in the state of Oregon. She uses her clinical experiences to inform her teaching, research projects, and community training opportunities for clinical professionals and the general public.
