Understanding historical and current theories of the grief process offers a framework for professionals to apply culturally affirming practices to a broad range of loss and grief experiences. This workshop will focus on the examination of loss and grief in relation to diverse death and non-death experiences across the lifespan with particular attention to the complexities brought about by the social cultural contexts of today. We will review theory, research, and best practices for micro-mezzo and macro practitioners helping with bereavement processes, grief integration, and meaning making for themselves, individuals, families, and across communities.
