The purpose of this training is to offer a foundational training on Narrative Therapy and then to be able to apply these skills in an “addictions” setting. Narrative Therapy is a world view, a way of seeing things, and a way to talk about things with our clients. Narrative work privileges the words and ideas of the client. In this relational way of talking new stories, new ways of seeing one’s self, and new options are illuminated for clients in ways that Western Medicine does not teach. After this training, trainees will have tools to assist them in expanding client conversations past the limits of Western Medicine and into a way of talking that provides freedom and empowerment to clients.
