To request general information about whether volunteering with us will help you meet your personal or professional goals, or to express interest in any of our one-time projects or on-going positions, contact Volunteer Services and we will respond to your inquiry within one business day.
If you are interested in a one-time project, it is helpful for us to know your availability and which project you are interested in. If you are looking to adopt a project as a group, please share your preferred project, the number of individuals in your group, and your ideal dates & times. We will then send you a detailed description of your project and connect you with program staff to plan your day. Orientation and background check clearance are not required for one-time projects – you can sign-up today!
To apply for an on-going position, please share whether you are interested in a specific program or position, and which orientation session you would like to attend (see schedule below), and you will receive more details, including the orientation location. This is the ideal time to mention any school-required or court-mandated service you need to complete.
Expectations vary widely depending on the project or position you choose, but all volunteers are expected to uphold our values by:
- Honoring confidentiality
- Behaving in a safe and respectful manner
- Following through with their commitment

Orientations are on hold while the position of Volunteer Services Manager is vacant. Please email email@example.com to be updated upon hiring.
Orientations are scheduled when most of our opportunities are available, so if your schedule conflicts with these sessions, we likely do not have an on-going position that would be convenient for you. You are welcome, however, to inquire about opportunities that fit your schedule or to sign-up for a one-time project.
Contact Our Programs
Orientation is just the first step of the application process and does not guarantee an on-going placement with any of our programs. At orientation, you will be given contact information for the program of your choice so that you can follow-up afterwards to schedule a meeting with the program's Volunteer Coordinator.
Your initial meeting with program staff can include a tour, interview, and/or a shadow shift to test out the role you are considering. If you and staff decide to work together, you are just one step away from joining our team!
Complete Your Background Check
Once you and program staff decide to work together, the program Volunteer Coordinator will request your background check from Volunteer Services. Since we run four different checks based on our program contracts, the steps involved can vary. Details about the background checks will be provided at orientation and, in some instances, during your initial contact with Volunteer Services.
Many of our staff and volunteers have criminal histories and some of the checks we use enable us to make a case-by-case determination. If you have criminal history, we encourage you to apply, and if you do not clear, will work with you to find another placement.
Once your background check clears, you are officially on the team and have access to our social events and training perks through Volunteer Bridge. Your program's Volunteer Coordinator will then follow-up with you to provide program orientation, schedule your shifts, and connect you with a staff member for initial and on-going training.
