Thank you, Volunteers!
We are pleased to introduce the "Seed-to-Table" Project!
Thanks to generous community support, Volunteers of America Oregon is establishing a community garden
at our Family Relief Nursery program, which works to strengthen vulnerable families. The garden will help parents and children enrolled in the program to plant and harvest vegetables, herbs, and other crops, cultivating a stronger family bond as they cultivate a garden. The garden will also serve as a healthy food source for these families. In addition, horticulture therapy students from PCC and Legacy Health Systems will work with the Family Relief Nursery staff to create a curriculum that teaches parents and children about gardening.
Volunteers from the Home Builders Foundation, Bank of America, and Cascade Builders took part in the groundbreaking, using materials donated by Parr Lumber. Project management was provided by Jim Fisher of Fisher Roofing.
We are very grateful for this generous community support and look forward to providing updates as this project progresses!
