Corporate Volunteers Support Families

Corporate Volunteers Make a Difference Family Relief Nursery

Volunteers from Symantec Corporation gave Family Relief Nursery (FRN) a mini-makeover, brightening up the interior and livening up the landscaping.

As part of Symantec's 25th Anniversary Volunteer Challenge, more than 90 employees picked up paint brushes and shovels and did their part to reaffirm their company's commitment to the community.

In addition to getting a much needed makeover, the Family Relief Nursery will receive $15 for every hour spent by each volunteer.  As part of Symantec's Dollars for Doers program, the company matches employee contributions of time and resources by donating money to the receiving agency.  Another $550 was awarded as a grant for supplies.
Mike Salas, Corporate Architect with Knowledge Learning Corporation lent his expertise by choosing a rainbow of colors to brighten up the exterior and the classroom walls at the nursery. Once the colors were selected, Parker Paint donated more than 70 gallons of paint and all the necessary supplies, a contribution valued at $3500.

"We are so grateful for the way the community has come together to support the Family Relief Nursery," says Michelle Reynolds, FRN Program Director.  The improvements to our building will help keep this a warm and safe place for children and families, and we are so appreciative of the time and energy all of the volunteers have contributed to make this happen."

Our thanks go to Symantec, Parker Paint, and Knowledge Learning Center for their generous contributions of time and talent in creating a bright and cheerful atmosphere for the children.

Corporate volunteerism is an effective way to build teamwork, provide leadership skills, and reward your employees with a gratifying sense of having contributed to the community.
