If you’re looking for a one-time or episodic project, for yourself or your group, we specialize in hosting direct-service volunteer experiences. Broaden your perspective and make a lasting impact by bringing laughter and new experiences to the children, families, and elders in our community.
We hosted nearly 60 one-time projects last
year, which received terrific reviews from volunteers for how fun and
organized our events are, from staff for how much generosity and
enthusiasm the volunteers bring, and from clients who feel touched that
people in the Portland community want to spend time with them.

There are several great ways that your group can bring a sense of value and belonging to a parent, child, or elder experiencing isolation and transition:
Honoring Our Elders: Join our Activity Coordinator in sharing crafting, music, art, and gardening activities with elders on the third Tuesday of every month at the Lambert House Adult Day Center. And we may just get a special visit from the preschoolers at our Family Relief Nursery!
Contact Volunteer Services to sign up as an individual for our 3rd Tuesday projects, or to schedule a full or half-day project just for your small group!
Family Relief Nursery Field Trips: Give our preschoolers the gifts of a special trip by scheduling your small group to take them on an outing with staff support. Available for groups of up to 10 with 3 weeks notice.
Grounds Maintenance / Gift Boxes: If your small group is able to give time as well as donations, contact Volunteer Services to schedule a flexible project to spruce up our Family Relief Nursery or package up vital supplies for our children, families, and elders in need. Large groups and off-site projects welcome!
