Lawyers "Sing and Dance" for CourtCare
The Multnomah Bar Association raised more than $110,000 during their recent annual campaign for the Multnomah CourtCare program. An estimated 700 supporters, attorneys and judges alike, either gave donations or participated in special events to raise the funds needed. Special events included attorneys singing karaoke style, the fancy footwork needed to bowl, and even a wine auction. Read more here
Al Forthan Memorial Scholarship Fund Wins Community Grant
Volunteers of America Oregon was one of only four agencies selected by students from Jesuit High School to receive a $3,250 grant to support the Al Forthan Memorial Scholarship Fund, which awards scholarships to Portland public high school students and encourages them to seek solutions to the issue of addiction among the African-American community. "Caring for Our Seniors" Breakfast Raises Funds and Awareness
The first-annual fundraiser breakfast benefiting the Marie Smith Center and Lambert House placed a spotlight on the growing need for Adult Day Services in our community and across the country.
Volunteers of America Oregon supporters, service providers, and members of the community gathered to learn about the unique work of the Senior Services Division.

Senior Services: Promoting Self-Determination
While most of the participants in our Senior Services Division are the frail and elderly, our two adult day centers are serving an increasing number of younger people with disabilities. Meet Amy Whitney, 32 years old, upbeat, uses a wheelchair and determined to walk again. Details here
