The Business Enterprise Division was established for two purposes: a.) to provide revenues for the agency's day-to-day operations, and b.) to offer work experience and employment training opportunities.
For over 10 years, the Vehicle Donation Program has received donated vehicles to sell at dealer or public auction. The program also partners with over 200 other nonprofit organizations.
Our Thrift Store was opened in 2001 and receives tax-deductible donations of clothing and household goods from the greater Portland metropolitan area.
Our Food Services program provided meals for the Women's Residential Center and the Child Development Center. Women participating in this workforce development training effort, have the opportunity to earn a food handlers card while learning the value of taking on responsibility.
Smurfit-Stone Recycling in the Portland Metropolitan Area has committed to donate $5.00 to our agency for every ton of office waste a new client referred by Volunteers of America Oregon recycles and $2.50 per ton of cardboard.
Our four business enterprises produce much needed revenues to bolster our income when other funding sources are temporarily diminished. We encourage the community to support these activities.
