Drug Free Housing With Intensive Outpatient Treatment
This program treats 10 individuals at a time and is comprised of two elements – clean and sober housing and outpatient addiction treatment services.
VOA Oregon provides residential services, recovery mentors, and night staff dedicated to these 10 individuals. Participants must sign an agreement to maintain this housing while receiving treatment services and an agreement to maintain treatment services at VOA while in the housing.
Treatment services at VOA provide a high level of daily structured activities. Participants attend group and individual treatment appointments with VOA counselors. Soon after your entry into the program, you will participate in a comprehensive assessment of your needs. Your counselor will interview you to obtain detailed information about your history and recovery needs. All of this information will help us work with you to develop a specific plan for your recovery, called an Individual Services and Supports Plan (ISSP). This ISSP is the blueprint for your path to recovery while in the program. As part of this path to recovery, you will also attend community recovery support groups like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or SMART Recovery.
In addition to your primary counselor, you will be provided with a recovery mentor who will help you develop a recovery lifestyle. The mentor’s assistance will be particularly essential to help you have a successful transition into the program and, later, a transition out of the program to help you find work and more permanent housing. Some examples of the services mentors can help with our workforce development, safe and sober housing, establishing consistent healthcare, obtaining food stamps and other government benefits. The mentor leads exercise groups and groups where you work on counseling homework assignments or watch and discuss recovery videos. The mentor will also take you to recovery self-help groups in the community.
Treatment in the program is comprised of three distinct phases. There is no time frame to these phases. Everyone progresses at a different pace. The movement to each phase is decided by the VOA team.
