2009 DePreist Tribute Dinner

Volunteers of America Oregon honored local philanthropists and community volunteers Marta and Ken Thrasher at the 8^th Annual DePreist Award Tribute Dinner on Wednesday, February 18, 2009 at the Portland Hilton Grand Ballroom.

Over 200 people attended the event and helped to raise $60,000 for Volunteers of America Oregon's life-changing programs. A huge thank you to everyone who attended!

The Thrashers are well known throughout our region for their dedication to community, education, mentoring and the arts. They work tirelessly to support Albertina Kerr Centers, Friends of the Children, Oregon Coast Aquarium, Oregon Mentors, the Children’s Institute, Portland State University, Oregon State University and other organizations that help young people achieve their full potential.

Marta serves on the PSU Advisory Boards of the Food Industry Leadership Center, the Graduate School of Education, and the Graduate School of Social Work. Before becoming Chairman and CEO of Compli, Ken worked in various executive positions at Fred Meyer Stores for 18 years. Ken was honored by the Oregon Business Association with the 2007 Statesman of the Year Award for his achievements in public service, and together, the Thrashers have received many additional awards for their service to the community.
