Family Relief Nursery Receives Grant from Harold & Arlene Schnitzer CARE Foundation
Volunteers of America Oregon would like to thank the Harold and Arlene Schnitzer CARE Foundation for its continued support of Family Relief Nursery. The Foundation recently made a grant of $1,000 to help build a new playground facility at Family Relief Nursery, VOA Oregon's child abuse prevention program. The structure will be utilized by over 100 at-risk children each year and will help nurture vital gross motor and social skills, areas where these children are often lacking, so that they arrive at school ready to learn.
"Over 80 percent of the children we serve live in places where it is impossible for them to play outside," says Program Director Michelle Reynolds. "The new playground will give them the opportunity to run, play, get some fresh air -- and just be kids. We are so grateful for the Harold and Arlene Schnitzer CARE Foundation's support!"
