About Us

Since 1896, we've been there for those who need us most.

Our Mission:
To change lives by promoting self-determination, building strong communities and standing for social justice.

From at-risk youth to victims of domestic violence, from the recovering addicts to the frail elderly, Volunteers of America Oregon provides a range of supportive and empowering services to our area's most vulnerable populations - and work with them to rebuild whole lives and reach their full potential.

Today, through the dedication of 350 staff members and more than 700 volunteers, we help thousands of families in the greater Portland, Oregon and Vancouver, Washington areas. We serve men, women, and children with a continuum of services, touching individuals from all walks of life, from the youngest to the oldest.

We are passionate about finding innovative solutions to our community's
most intractable social problems.  Our comprehensive programs focus on three main areas: children and family, public safety/substance abuse treatment, and senior services.
