7 Ways You Can Help a Caregiver
Do you know someone who is caring for an elderly or disabled loved one? You can help. Here are seven ways to support a caregiver in your life.

1. Be a listening ear. Let them back up the truck and unload. Sometimes caregivers just need to talk.
2. Offer respite. Even an an hour or two can be enough of a break for the caregiver to go to the store or appointment, or get some much-needed rest.
3. Offer to be a caregiver’s “Plan B”. Provide respite care if an emergency arises.
4. Provide transportation assistance. Transporting a loved one to and from appointments is often the biggest ongoing challenge caregivers face.
5. Help a senior move or downsize. There are no free moving resources for seniors in our community who are downsizing or moving in with a loved one. Offer your time and transportation to help out.
6. Offer to make phone calls, research resources, and navigate services. You can help by scheduling appointments and gathering information so that caregivers can make the best choices for their loved ones.
7. Be an advocate for the seniors and disabled adults in your community. Speak out for and support services for elderly adults!
